RE: My Top 5 Favorite Campsites

To Davosfam:
In answer to your question, Memaloose is an oasis of green with lots of grass and trees. You can park in sun or shade, with hookups or without, with great river views or not. Tenters can find appealing sites and so can the largest motorhomes and 5-ers. The park is very popular with windsurfers during the summer, and you may need a reservation for hookups on the weekend. But the best thing about Memaloose for us and many other locals is that it's less than two hours from home. :-)
Thanks for the response!
What is there for teens to do? Is the water accessible to swim in? The only spots available during the time I am looking at are in the A section. Do you know what that is like?

RE: Wa. RV`S

We are taking our first trip of the year this weekend! Woohoo! We are heading to Fort Stevens for a quick two night trip. DH works a rotating schedule so we had to get a trip in on his weekend off. Youngest DS is even skipping a baseball game and oldest DS is going too. It should be a nice family trip.

RE: 3 Dogs and one 8 foot Tent Trailer - Advise

I haven't read all of the posts but just wanted to mention that we run a fan at night. We ALL seem to sleep better with the white noise!
We run a fan all year round in our bedroom at home (but not when we aren't there). We also had two set up in the tent trailer. My boyfriend can't seem to sleep with out it.
We are hoping that the A/C will drown out some noice as well.
We do the same thing at home as I can't sleep without a fan.

RE: Scotty Pup gnawing hair off of legs.

Poor thing! Our schnauzer did this when he had fleas. Even one flea bite would send him into this kind of compulsive behavior. Besides treating the fleas, he was on Benadryl and prednisone.
He doesn't have fleas now but he will still do this occasionally and we have to tell him no and he will stop. When he had fleas, he would keep biting no matter how many times you told him no.
Have him checked by a vet and let us know what it is.

RE: teenagers and camping

Heck, it was the other way around for me! I wanted to go camping! It was camping with my parents that started my love for it. For me, after I bought my own car, I was always bumming the old Pop-up off of the parents, grabbing some friends, and heading out to a state park, or to the beach or something. Dad was a little bit leery at first, but I always kept it in great shape. Plus, Dad taught me how to maneuver a vehicle with a trailer long before me setting off on my own with one. I never did any drinking either. Sometimes, I'd have another friend that had bummed a boat off of their parents, and we'd go water skiing, fishing, or something like that. One of my other best friends had an acoustic guitar that he'd bring along sometime, and he'd play some tunes around the campfire. It was great times! I really miss some of the road trips I took as a teenager, and young 20's
This is what we keep hoping our almost 19 year old will start doing. Sounds like great fun to us but he would rather spend his time playing XBox Live. However, he surprised us all be asking when our camping trips are this year because he wants to go with!
Sounds like you made some great memories during those "getting your feet wet" years.

RE: teenagers and camping

We let our then 17 year old son stay home by himself one Memorial Day weekend while we went camping. We were camping about an hour from home with a large group of friends. It poured that weekend and we ended up running home to get some more dry clothes. When we got home, we found two of my son's friends sleeping on our couches, our son in his bedroom asleep and lots and lots of booze.
After making them clean up the mess everywhere, we had them load up all THEIR booze into OUR cooler. ;) None of us ladies had to buy wine coolers for the rest of the weekend!
We thought we knew him better than that but we didn't. Thank heavens he is older and wiser (and so are we ;) ).
BTW, our youngest son ALWAYS goes camping with us! :D

RE: Cold Pasta help!

Italian dressing, cut up veggies and some Salad Elegance make for a nice pasta salad. I have even eaten it warmed up. Very yummy!

I saw the trailer you are looking at on Craigslist. It is beautiful! Definitely a trailer that will be on our list when we are ready to upgrade. Let us know if you got it!

RE: Silverwood camp ground???

I checked out what I could find on the internet about Silverwood RV Park. Their website doesn't give too much info. It says that no open fires are allowed. Does that mean fire pits? We live in wet country so don't normally have to worry abou tthose kinds of rules.
I haven't looked too far into the Idaho State Parks. Are fires allowed there?

RE: Camera Suggestions?

We have the Canon SD850 IS. We love it. The IS stands for Image Stabilization. No more blurry photos! It is small, has a large viewing screen and has a rechargeable battery.
Our previous camera was an Olympus and it constantly took blurry photos so that is why we went with a camera with the image stabilization.
rockhillmanor - With most, if not all, digital cameras, you will need to buy a memory card. The internal memory on most cameras is VERY small.

RE: Silverwood camp ground???

That sounds like a fun trip! Are there any campgrounds (not RV parks) around there? It might be fun to plan a week long trip and only do a few days at Silverwood.

RE: Does anyone here not have a tub surround?

We do not have a tub surround and our trailer is 20+ years old. We have owned it for 2 years and haven't had a problem.

RE: Taking wallpaper off to paint

I don't think it is normal " regular" wallpaper. I would try in a spot behind a couch or in a closet first. maybe paint over it with Kilz?
I don't think it is normal wallpaper either. I think it is called paper board or something like that. Pre-wallpapered paneling.

RE: Portable BBq

We were going to get a Camp Chef system but didn't want to deal with the mess of the barbecue box. They look like great stoves/grills though and it was really hard to steer myself away from them!
Sorry to hijack this thread but I have a question...
We just got a new Coleman campstove and will be getting a Weber Q. If we wanted to run these off of our trailer's propane tanks or bring along a 10 gal propane tank, how would we do it? I have read on here about low pressure vs. high pressure and I am just not clear on the whole thing.
Can someone explain the whole thing to me?
